Hiring Creative Talent for a Life Coaching Agency

About the Project:

Context Note: Due to an NDA, this case study uses a fictional company to demonstrate the exact hiring strategies and technical setups I implement for my clients.

A high-growth, quirky life coaching agency was struggling with a broken hiring process. They were overwhelmed by unqualified applicants, leading to recruiter burnout and a 45+ day time-to-hire. Most recently, they were forced to let go of a new editor who missed their first two deadlines, leaving the team behind schedule and overwhelmed with the hiring process.

Deliverables:

⭐ A brand-aligned job description that speaks directly to high-level storytellers who value authenticity and connection.

⭐ A research-backed salary report to ensure the offer was both competitive for the editor and sustainable for the business.

A value-based application funnel including a 10-question screening process designed to highlight a candidate’s strategic thinking and cultural fit right from the start.

Our Process / What We Did:

📝 I partnered with the Company Owner and Marketing Strategist on a discovery call to translate what they needed into a job description designed to attract candidates with the appropriate technical and strategic skills who would also be a good cultural fit.

🎯 From there, I structured the application form questions to prioritize “creative strategy” and how it fits into the larger sales funnel as well as brand alignment - ensuring the editor can translate the company’s quirky, authentic voice into visual content that builds immediate trust with the audience.

Results:

While the total number of applications decreased, the caliber of talent skyrocketed—resulting in 5 highly-qualified candidates who were instantly ready for the interview stage.

✅ The Coaching Agency successfully identified, interviewed, and hired the top choice, with the new editor beginning onboarding within just 3 weeks (slashing the previous 45-day average).

✅ As of December 2025, they were still part of the company and their role was increased to full-time.
